Ultima Unveils World's First USB 2.0 TV Tuner Box Ultima Electronics Corp. of Taiwan (owner of the ¡§ARTEC¡¨ brand) recently unveiled the T1 portable digital-TV tuner box, which features three ¡§world's No.1¡¨ functions: first digital TV box supporting the HDTV (high-definition television), USB 2.0 high-speed data-transmission interface, ¡§on-the-fly¡¨ decoding that enables it to continuously offer the latest programming schedules, and ¡§first place¡¨ in terms of signal-receiving quality, ensuring industry-vanguard picture quality. The high performance model has won a hot market reception and the highest commendations from professional PC magazines since its demonstration. Sancy Wang, president of Ultima, says that the T1 is the firm's first stepping-stone in long range plans to tap the consumer-electronics market. Already a leading maker of optical disk drives; Ultima says that it utilizes established technical capability and core technologies in the digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) field to aggressively tap the consumer-electronics market.
